The story and the illustrations made for a winning combination. It truly is a heart-warming story, and a wonderful way to connect today's kids with a time in history with which they are probably unfamiliar. Oh, and I too am a children's author, and I also have an office staff of critters--much like your cat--who assist me each day (whether I want their help or not.) 2 cats, Henry & Herman, and a puppy, Holly.
